I stopped for gas at a full service station today. The young guy pumping the gas saw a book on my back seat called “How to get Rich without winning the Lottery” It’s a tool to give to prospects. He said quite enthusiastically “too bad that doesn’t work!!” and also went on to say “if it worked you wouldn’t be driving a Hyundai!!” I have to admit at first I was annoyed and insulted.
But here’s the thing he had no idea what I was doing or what my plan was or anything about me for that matter (or cared to know). He just made his own assumptions and that was that. You know what? That’s just fine. My job isn’t to convince people that what I’m doing is the best way to reach my goals. I certainly don’t feel the need to defend network marketing.
Don’t waste your energy talking to people about your network marketing opportunity if they’re not willing to listen. Not everyone is going to want what you have to offer. Devoting yourself to “convincing people” is just going to wear you out, get you frustrated and lead you down the wrong path. Somebody p*ss you off? Forget about it!
Now maybe that young guy had a plan for his future or maybe he’s having too much fun to worry about his future. It doesn’t matter his life doesn’t affect mine and vice versa. The only control we have is over our own lives. Sorry if this seemed to turn into a rant. When I get passionate about something I just have to get it out. Thanks for listening!
